Clusters currently play a decisive role in supporting companies and implementing smart specialisation, diagnosing the difficulties faced by companies in a given sector on the ground and providing the responsible entities with essential data for the development and implementation of effective policies that benefit the growth of companies.

These platforms establish better levels of collaboration between companies in a given sector and local stakeholders, organising collective actions, reducing transaction costs, by building collaborative interactions and partnerships between companies and their partners.

Aiming to stimulate and support the emergence and consolidation of collective efficiency strategies, both in emerging sectors and in traditional sectors of the Portuguese economy, competitiveness clusters were identified that cover sectoral lines and promote value chains, namely:
