IMT makes available a consultation of European homologation records

15.02.2021

The website of the Institute for Mobility and Transport (IMT) has a new feature that allows searching whether vehicles registered in another European country already have the model registered in the national computer system. This service aims to facilitate the process of granting a national registration (homologation).

After consulting the homologation register a statement with the registration number will be issued to present at the Portuguese Tax and Customs Authority (AT). This declaration replaces the previous IMT model 9 form to be presented to the AT.

If the characteristics of the vehicle type are not registered in the IMT system, a request for national approval can be made online, to which the foreign registry certificate (with EC approval) and, if available, the Certificate of Conformity (CoC) must be attached.

This request is free of charge.

See the IMT website for more information on vehicle homologation or registration.
