The Unique Digital Address (MUD) is an e-mail where you will receive the notifications you receive in the Electronic Notification platform.

The e-mail defined as MUD:

  • is chosen when subscribing to the service
  • can be from any email provider (Gmail, Hotmail, Outlook, etc.)
  • is equivalent to the address of the natural persons or headquarters of the legal persons
  • can be changed at any time.

By subscribing to this service, you will receive the notifications from the participating entities both in the Electronic Notifications platform and in the e-mail you define as MUD.

Define the Unique Digital Address (MUD)

The Unique Digital Address (MUD) is chosen when subscribing but can be changed at any time.

The MUD is confirmed when joining the Electronic Notification platform through secure methods of verification of identity and ownership of the e-mail indicated.

The confirmation of the e-mail as MUD can be done:

  • on the ePortugal portal
  • in the mobile application of the Electronic Notifications platform.

Change the Unique Digital Address (MUD)

The change of e-mail defined as MUD is done in the reserved area of the Electronic Notifications platform, within your account settings.

When changing the MUD you will have to validate the new e-mail address.

Sending and receiving Electronic Notifications

By subscribing to this service you will no longer receive all the paper notifications available on the platform but will receive them on the Electronic Notifications platform and in the e-mail registered as a Unique Digital Address (MUD).

Notifications received on the Electronic Notifications platform and at the Unique Digital Address have all the information and are equivalent to notifications received in any other form provided by law.

The notification is sent to the e-mail defined as Unique Digital Address. In case of a problem in delivery the notification is resent twice a day in the following 5 days.

Notifications can be consulted within the reserved area, both on the website and in the mobile application.

The person is considered to have been notified 5 days after receipt of the notification on the Electronic Notification platform.

The issuing of the notification is the responsibility of the issuing entity. ePortugal only provides the sending and access channel. To clarify any doubts about the content of a notification you should contact the entity that issued the notification.

Forwarding a notification to antoher e-mail

You can forward the notifications you receive to any e-mail, from your lawyer or accountant, for example.

You can set automatic forwarding of all notifications from an entity or service to any e-mail address.

You can forward only one notification in the options for that notification.

Consulting the notifications

Notifications are available on the Electronic Notification platform for 2 years and on the MUD until you delete them.

Within the Electronic Notifications platform, both online and in the mobile application, you can switch between personal and business notifications or between notifications from several companies.

When a notification becomes unavailable in the near future, that indication will be visible in the Electronic Notifications platform.

At any time you can send a copy of the notification to any email address and keep that copy until you delete it.

If you wish to retrieve a notification that is no longer available you may contact the issuing entity to try to retrieve a copy of the notification.

Cancel account

At any time you can cancel your account on the Electronic Notifications platform.

When you cancel the account you will receive the paper notifications again.

After cancelling your account you will not be able to access the Electronic Notifications platform and you will not be able to see the notifications you have received. Before you cancel your account you should forward the notifications you have on the platform to an email.

The option to cancel an account is available in the account settings, both in the online version and in the mobile application of the Electronic Notifications platform.
