Applications for the registration of a private access semen storage centre must be sent to the Directorate-General for Food and Veterinary Matters (DGAV).

Procedure

Complete the online form providing the:

  • identification of the applicant
  • name and location of the centre
  • name of the agent who will perform the artificial insemination at the centre.

Please attach the following documents to the form:

  • document providing full location, including geo-referencing
  • floor plan of the facilities
  • detailed description of the facilities
  • description of staff and livestock circuit (clean and dirty areas)
  • equipment list
  • description of the registration system (procedures, animals, filing, semen traceability, etc.)
  • a copy of the licence or operating permit issued under the New Scheme for Exercising Livestock Activity (NREAP) or extract from the commercial register.

The registration of a bovine semen storage centre, whether privately or publicly accessible, always requires a registered Artificial Insemination Agent (AIA), so that if the agent is not yet registered, applicants must also complete the form ‘Register an Artificial Insemination Agent’.
