Algarve 2020 supports teacher training in Digital Transition

10.11.2020

The Algarve 2020 programme has launched a competition to train around 6500 teachers, trainers of the National System of Qualifications and information technology technicians in each school. The aim is to ensure the acquisition of the necessary skills for teaching in the new digital context.

The "training of teachers and other education and training agents" is addressed to the Teacher Training Centres and the Ministry of Education bodies responsible for education policies. A priority identified in the Action Plan for the Digital Transition, approved by the Government in April, and of urgent nature in the current pandemic context.

This competition includes areas such as distance and blended learning, empowering teachers and trainers to use digital tools in teaching and learning processes, both face-to-face and remote.

The more than 320 actions to be developed are aimed at teachers of pre-school education and of primary and secondary education in effective practice in groupings of schools or schools not grouped in the public network. Teachers in legally equivalent positions, headmasters, middle school managers and other education agents are also covered by the competition.

The public funding for this competition is EUR 850 000.00 (Eight hundred and fifty thousand euros), 80% of which will come from the European Social Fund.
