The Death and Bereavement Service of the Citizen’s Shop of Coimbra, located at Avenida Central, no. 16/18/20, was inaugurated on 9 April. This new space has been in operation since 14 March and has already provided 383 services.

The Death and Bereavement Service was designed to bring together in a single service location a set of services across several entities that need to be used after the death of a family member. The main objective of the service is to solve several issues and services in a single trip. It is possible, for example, to request subsidies and reimbursements related to death or funeral, or to carry out qualifications of heirs.

The desk was prototyped in Santo Tirso, having evolved into this new, more integrated concept, where the necessary information is provided to deal with various issues related to the death of a relative.

This service is the result of a partnership between ADSE, the Tax Authority, Bank of Portugal, Caixa Geral de Aposentações [General Pension Fund], Registry and Notary Institute (IRN), Social Security Institute, the Ministry of Justice and the Administrative Modernization Agency, through LabX.

During the event, the Minister of Justice, Francisca Van Dunen, announced that the next Death and Bereavement Service will be opened in the new Citizen’s Shop of Lisbon, at Mercado 31 de Janeiro.
