04.03.2020

The Justiça + Próxima 20 | 23 plan was announced by the Portuguese government on March 2nd. The updated plan for modernization and transformation of justice now includes 140 measures of innovation, efficiency, proximity and humanization, with a primary focus on citizens' needs.

The main measures that marked the first edition of the program are maintained. The expansion of the Tribunal + is one of the reinforcements, now more focused on strategies such as the dematerialization of communications between the courts and various entities, simplified registration, and improving public service.

The new Justiça+ Próxima plan also includes the pilot project for online submission of nationality requests, in order to increase the capacity to respond to the growing number of new requests.

Other highlighted initiatives concern the protection of vulnerable people. New modernization measures include combating gender-based violence, and better knowledge management and intervention on the victim.

The creation of the project “Cidad@o Recluso +” will guarantee conditions for access to e-learning training in Portuguese prisons, facilitating the process of reintegration into society. Still within this theme, the “Saúde + Proxima” project will bring together prisons and health units through telemedicine.
