The Council of Ministers approved the Resolution renewing the Programme “Escolhas” (Choices), the 8th Generation, for the period 2021 to 2022.

The objectives of the Programme “Escolhas” are to combat discrimination, strengthen social cohesion and promote equal opportunities. Integrated in the High Commission for Migration, its mission is to promote the social inclusion of children and young people from contexts with socio-economic vulnerability.

The programme implements measures to promote education, training and qualification, employment and entrepreneurship, as well as community dynamism, participation and citizenship.

With emphasis on the areas of prevention of juvenile delinquency, reduction of early school leaving and promotion of responsible and inclusive entrepreneurship, the Programme “Escolhas” celebrates 20 years of existence this year, with proven results in the areas of school success, innovation, experimentation and training, recognised nationally and internationally as good practice.

Over these twenty years, the Programme “Escolhas” has covered a total of 650 projects and some 400 thousand participants.
