The migration process of the digital terrestrial television network (DTT) will start again on August 12th, with the change of frequency of the Alter do Chão broadcaster, after which other broadcasters serving the district of Portalegre and Castelo Branco will follow.

The process, which had begun on February 7th, was suspended on March 13th due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19. The migration of the DTT network of broadcasters is scheduled for December 18th .

Not everyone will be covered by this process. People will know that they are covered by the change if their TV has no picture. When the TV screen turns black it will only be necessary to tune in to the TV or DTT decoder and everyone will continue to watch TV for free, as has been the case until now.

There is no need to replace or reorient the antenna, change the TV or set-top box and nobody has to subscribe to pay-TV services. In the case of condominiums/buildings with single-channel amplifiers you may have to replace them.

To help in this process, ANACOM has set up a free helpline (800 102 002), which operates every day between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m., to which people can call to clarify questions and get support in tuning their TV.

If they are unable to tune in, either on their own or with the help of the helpline 800 102 002, ANACOM will arrange a visit to the person's home to tune in, with its technicians, free of charge.

ANACOM will disseminate information concerning the changes in DTT by means of a letter and a leaflet which is delivered to everyone's home and which summarises the relevant information to adapt to this change process.
