Portugal now has 700 Citizen Spots available

09.11.2020

The most recent Citizen Spot inaugurated in Portel, in the district of Évora, has increased the one-stop service network, which now has 700 Citizen Spots and 59 Citizen Shops.

Despite the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government considers that maintaining face-to-face care and proximity are fundamental to guaranteeing access to public services, through a pre-scheduling system.

Thus, it has been investing, in articulation with the local authorities, in the expansion of the network of Citizen's Shops and in the increase of the offer of services in these counters, of which the renewal and withdrawal of the Citizen Card is an example.

According to a statement issued by the government's Modernization of the State and Public Administration department, the Citizen Shops carried out more than 2.7 million face-to-face visits between January and October 2020.

During the same period, the Citizen Spots carried out more than 760,000 consultations, of which around 78,000 were renewals of the Citizen Card.

In parallel with the focus on proximity, the reinforcement of digital public services is maintained, allowing citizens and businesses to access more than 200 online services without the need to travel.

Between January and October, about half a million services were carried out on the public services portal ePortugal.gov.pt.
