"Programa Regressar" received over 600 requests in 6 months

"Programa Regressar" has registered 659 requests in 6 months through the Instituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional (IEFP). Most of the candidates left the country during the economic crisis, between 2011 and 2015.

Launched in July 2019, the program aims to support the return of emigrants to Portugal, as well as their descendants and family members. Among the various measures presented are the participation in the costs of travel and transportation of goods, the recognition of academic or professional qualifications, tax support and a 50% discount on the IRS. Another available initiative is the Linha de Crédito Regressar, aimed at entrepreneurs of small and medium-sized companies, allowing the creation of new businesses in the national territory.

The Portuguese Government intends to reinforce the "Programa Regressar" with new measures during this year.
