Traveling between municipalities prohibited from October 30th to November 3rd

The government approved a decision banning travelling between different municipalities on the mainland during the period from midnight on 30 October to midnight on 3 November. There are, however, some exceptions.
 
The ban does not apply:

  • To health professionals and other workers in health and social support institutions, as well as to teaching and non-teaching staff in school establishments;
  • To civil protection agents, security forces and services, military, militarised and civilian personnel of the Armed Forces and inspectors of the Economic and Food Safety Authority;
  • Political office-holders, magistrates and leaders of the social partners and political parties represented in Parliament;
  • Ministers of worship, through accreditation by the competent bodies of the respective church or religious community;
  • The support staff of the sovereign bodies and of the parties with parliamentary representation, provided that the respective professional ties are proven by means of a worker's card or other suitable document;
  • To travels for the purpose of professional activities or similar, provided that they make a declaration, under a pledge of honour, if the journey takes place between councils bordering on that of the habitual residence or in the same Metropolitan Area, or provided that they have a declaration from the employer, if the journey is not limited to the areas defined in the previous sub-paragraph.
  • The movement of minors and their accompanying persons to schools, day care centres and leisure activities, as well as the movement of students to institutions of higher education or other schools;
  • To travels by users and their accompanying persons to Occupational Activity Centres and Day Centres;
  • To travels for training and examinations, as well as inspections;
  • To travels to take part in procedural acts before judicial bodies or in acts for which notaries, lawyers, solicitors, registrars and registry officers are competent, as well as to attend public services, provided that they are accompanied by proof of the respective scheduling;
  • To travels necessary to leave continental national territory;
  • To travels by non-resident citizens to places of proven stay;
  • To travels to attend cultural shows, if the trip takes place between municipalities bordering the usual residence or in the same Metropolitan Area and provided that they have the respective ticket;
  • To travels for the return to the usual residence.

In a statement, the Council of Ministers also announced some of the special measures that came into force in the municipalities of Felgueiras, Lousada and Paços de Ferreira on 23 October.
