Use of masks mandatory on the streets for 70 days

The President of the Republic promulgated this Monday the decree of the Assembly of the Republic which determines the mandatory wearing of masks in public places when it is not possible to comply with the recommended physical distance. 

The measure comes into force tomorrow, 28 October, for 70 days, and can be renewed, and applies to those over ten years. 

The requirement may be waived:

• When the use of a mask is incompatible with the nature of the activities that people are performing
• In relation to people who are part of the same household, when they are not in the vicinity of others
• And upon presentation of a medical certificate.

The inspection "is the responsibility of the security forces and municipal police" and failure to comply with the wearing of the mask constitutes an administrative offence, punished with a fine of between 100 and 500 euros.
