Unblock the Mobile Digital Key (CMD)

The Mobile Digital Key (CMD) temporarily locks up if you enter the wrong PIN code three times in a row. If you insist and continue entering the wrong PIN code, the CMD will lock permanently after a few attempts.

The Mobile Digital Key (CMD) will also lock out permanently if you dial the wrong security code three times in a row after entering the PIN.

How unblock the Mobile Digital Key (CMD)?

CMD temporarily blocked
If you dial the wrong PIN code three times in a row, the CMD will temporarily block. You will receive an SMS with this information and the number of minutes you have to wait until you can try again.

Just wait and dial the correct PIN. The CMD will be working normally.
 
If you continue to miss the PIN, the waiting time will increase and after a few attempts the CMD will block permanently.

CMD permanently blocked
If you permanently lock the CMD, there is no longer any chance of waiting until you can dial the correct PIN code. You really have to unlock the CMD.

You can unlock the CMD, whether it is temporarily or permanently locked, in the following ways:

On the internet
You will need to authenticate yourself with the Citizen Card.

  1. Log in and enter the reserved area of the authentication.gov portal
  2. Choose the tab "My Mobile Digital Key".
  3. Click on "unlock".
  4. You will be asked to choose a new PIN code for the CMD
  5. You will then receive a security code on your mobile phone to validate the operation.

At a service counter
If you are not able to unblock the CMD through the internet, as indicated above, go to a Espaço Cidadão and ask them to unblock your CMD. Bring the identification document associated with your accreditation card and the mobile phone number associated with your accreditation card.

If you want to unblock the CMD of another person who is a minor, it is not necessary that the minor also goes to the counter. Don't forget to bring the identification document associated with the minor's CMD and the mobile phone number associated with the minor's CMD.

Did you forget the PIN code of your Mobile Digital Key?
If you have forgotten the PIN code of your CMD, even if the CMD is not blocked, go to a Espaço Cidadão and ask for a new PIN code.

Alternatively, you can authenticate yourself with the Citizen's Card in the authentication.gov portal to solve the problem for yourself in the following way:

  1. Log in and enter the reserved area of the authentication.gov portal
  2. Cancel your current CMD
  3. Create, right after, a new CMD

You can associate the same mobile phone number and Citizen Card to the new CMD.

Did you forget the digital signature PIN of the Mobile Digital Key?
If you make a mistake 5 times in a row with the signing PIN code, or the security code you receive in response when trying to sign with the Mobile Digital Key, the digital signature function of the CMD will become inactive. However, the Mobile Digital Key continues to function normally to be able to authenticate.

Reactivating the CMD digital signature on the Internet
You will need to authenticate with Mobile Digital Key or Citizen Card.

In case you forgot the digital signature PIN code of the CMD, or the digital signature function has become inactive, you can reactivate the digital signature of your CMD in the authentication.gov portal:

  1. Log in and enter the reserved area of the authentication.gov portal.
  2. Choose the "My Mobile Digital Key" tab
  3. Click on the button "EDIT" under Digital Signature
    • If the status of the digital signature is ACTIVE, choose INACTIVE, and then save.
  4. Make sure that the status of the digital signature is INACTIVE. Click the edit button, choose the ACTIVE option, set a new digital signature PIN code, and choose save.
  5. Afterwards, you will receive a security code on your mobile phone to validate the operation.

Reactivate the CMD digital signature in a service counter
Go to a Espaço Cidadão and ask to reactivate the digital signature function of your CMD.
