The frequency with which the vehicles need to undergo inspection depends on the type of vehicle. Consult the simulator of the Mobility and Transports Institute to know when you should take your vehicle for inspection.

Where take your vehicle for inspection?

The periodic inspections are carried out on inspection centres. These centres are listed on the Mobility and Transports Institute’s website, where you can search:

  • on the map, where a list with the indication of the location of each centre on the map is provided
  • on the search engine, where you may search by vehicle’s category and municipality.

What are the documents and requirements to take your vehicle for inspection?

  • When you take your vehicle for inspection, bring the following documents with you:

    • the vehicle registration certificate or the carnet and property registry title
    • the file of the last inspection made.

How take your vehicle for inspection?

  1. Consult the simulator of the Instituto da Mobilidade e dos Transportes, I.P. (Mobility and Transports Institute) to know when you should take your vehicle for inspection.

You shall have to indicate:

  • The vehicle’s class
  • The date of the vehicle’s first registration.
  1. Choose one of the inspection centres available.

To search for a centre, you shall have to indicate:

  • the vehicle’s category
  • the municipality where you are taking your vehicle for inspection.
  1. Contact the inspection centre to schedule the inspection.
  2. Take your vehicle for inspection, on the scheduled date, and bring the following documents with you:
  • the vehicle registration certificate or the carnet and property registry title
  • the file of the last inspection made.
