Who can iNFORMATION FOR PORTUGUESE EMIGRANTS APPLYING FOR HIGHER EDUCATION IN PORTUGAL?

  • Applicants who meet the following conditions:

    • they are Portuguese emigrants or family members living with Portuguese emigrants (in this case, they must be no more than 25 years of age on 31 December of the year in which they apply);
    • they submit their application no later than 3 years after returning to Portugal;
    • they have completed secondary education in their country of residence which qualifies for access to higher education, or have a Portuguese secondary education or equivalent;
    • they have lived in a foreign country for at least 2 years when they complete their secondary education;
    • they do not hold a higher education qualification.

Where iNFORMATION FOR PORTUGUESE EMIGRANTS APPLYING FOR HIGHER EDUCATION IN PORTUGAL?

Applications for the national access competition are submitted online. However, when candidates compete for vacancies in the special quota for Portuguese emigrants and their family members, they must submit the document proving that they meet the conditions required in person at a higher education access office.

What are the documents and requirements to iNFORMATION FOR PORTUGUESE EMIGRANTS APPLYING FOR HIGHER EDUCATION IN PORTUGAL?

    • A document proving the status of an emigrant or family member of an emigrant (issued by the embassy or Portuguese consulate in the country where the emigrant lives).

    When secondary education has been completed abroad:

    • a certificate showing the secondary education qualification they have obtained with the relevant grade;
    • a declaration stating that the qualification obtained in the country where the emigrant lives is sufficient to enter a course of higher education in that country equivalent to the course being applied for in Portugal (issued by the official education services of the country where the emigrant lives);
    • a certificate of equivalence between the secondary education completed abroad and Portuguese secondary education.
