Request the annotation to the restriction 997 on the driving license

With this annotation, you may drive ambulances, firefighting, individual passenger transport (TVDE), patient transport, school transport and children public transport vehicles.

This annotation is an amendment to the driving license which indicates that you are authorized to drive certain type of vehicles which require special care.

Who can request the annotation to the restriction 997 on the driving license?

  • Any individual with a category B driving license may request the annotation.

    If the annotation is to carry out passenger transport on a featureless vehicle through an electronic platform (TVDE, for instance: Uber, Bolt or FreeNow, among others), you must hold a driving license for, at least, three years.

    The individuals with a category C and D driving license do not need this annotation

    The individuals with a category C and D driving license do not need to request the annotation as these categories allow the driving of the vehicles associated to the restriction 997.

When can you request the annotation to the restriction 997 on the driving license?

At any moment, as long as the driver meets the physical and mental conditions to drive:

  • ambulances
  • firefighting vehicles
  • patient transport vehicles
  • school transport vehicles
  • children public transport vehicles
  • rental light-duty passenger vehicles (taxis)
  • individual and paid transport of passengers on a featureless vehicle through an electronic platform (TVDE, for instance: Uber, Bolt or FreeNow, among others).

The physical and mental conditions are assessed through the psychological aptitude certificate (CAP) and the medical certificate.

  • Bring with you:

    • your Citizen Card (or the tax payer number + identification document or residence permit)
    • your driving license
    • a psychological aptitude certificate - CAP (you may request the CAP to a psychologist or request the CAP to the IMT.
    • a medical certificate (you only need to go to the appointment and it is not necessary to take the certificate, as the doctor will directly send it by email to IMT).

How request the annotation to the restriction 997 on the driving license?

Go to a reception desk and bring the necessary documents with you.

If you request the annotation on the IMT (Mobility and Transports Institute) reception desks, you shall receive the new driving license within 8 days. On another reception service, the receipt deadline is 25 days.
