  • If you are a foreign citizen living in Portugal, you must submit, preferably, one of the following documents:

    • a stay or residence permit
    • a work visa.
  • If you do not hold any of these documents, you must submit a residence certificate that proves you have been living in Portugal for more than 90 days.

Go to a health centre with the documents that prove you have been living in Portugal for more than 90 days.

These documents may be:

If you hold a Citizen Card, you do not need to request the NHS’s user card. You only need to display the Citizen Card to access the public health care.
