Certificate of admissibility of company name or designation - Request

A certificate of admissibility contains information on the entity intending to use the company name or designation, its registered head office, legal status and activities exercised.  

Certificates of admissibility are valid for three months and there are several situations, which require presenting this certificate. You can request it online, easily and swiftly.

It is mandatory to submit a certificate of admissibility of company name or designation to:

  • incorporate a commercial company using a name not included in the list of pre-approved names (you can use names from this list when incorporating a company within the scope of the On the Spot Firm or Online Empresa);
  • change the company name
  • move the registered head office to another municipality
  • change the scope of activities exercised (corporate object).

Who can certificate of admissibility of company name or designation - Request?

  • Any partner, founder or associate, or another person with a proxy granting powers for the purpose.

    The person itself, in case of a Sole Trader Entity with Limited Liability (EIRL), entrepreneur or sole trader.

    Lawyers, notaries and solicitors may also request certificates of admissibility, without requiring proxy.

What is the Price to certificate of admissibility of company name or designation - Request?

  • Regular request (response time: up to 10 workdays): 75 €
  • Urgent request (response time: 1 workday): 150 €

 

If you request the certificate online, you can pay by ATM or Credit card (visa or mastercard).

If the request is made in person at RNPC, you can pay with: cash; ATM; certified or bank cheque in EUR, from a Portuguese account, payable to IRN, I.P.

If you request by post, you have the following means of payment available: bank reference, enabling payment by ATM or visa/mastercard, which should be requested at rnpc@irn.mj.pt ; certified or bank cheque in EUR, from a Portuguese account, payable to IRN, I.P..

How certificate of admissibility of company name or designation - Request?

Certificates of admissibility may be requested at portal ePortugal.

Next, pay the request.

Upon completion, you will receive a code to access the certificate online. Nevertheless, only after Registo Nacional de Pessoas Coletivas approves the name does the certificate become available.

There is no need to authenticate nor to submit any document, to make the request.

You can then consult the certificate online by entering the code you were given.

TO REQUEST THE CERTIFICATE BY POST, YOU NEED TO:

Print, fill in and submit Modelo 1 of RNPC. If the person making the request is not a partner or an associate, he/she requires a proxy.

You will receive a code to access the certificate online. The certificate is available online as soon as Registo Nacional de Pessoas Coletivas approves the name.

Even when requested in person, the certificate will still be issued electronically.

The certificate of admissibility of company name or designation is only available in electronic form and can only be consulted online, by entering the access code given upon request. The certificate is valid for 3 months.
