Request a land registry certificate

This certificate, issued in paper format, is an evidence of the legal situation of a property at the date of issue. It gathers and describes the registries in force regarding that property.

The land registry certificate proves, for instance, to whom the property belongs and if it is under any encumbrances.

What are the documents and requirements to Request a land registry certificate?

  • When you request the certificate, you will need to submit:

    • your name, address, telephone number, email address
    • your identification Document (Citizen Card; Identity Document; Passport; or Residence Permit)
    • information about the property:
      • the description number (the number under which the vehicle is registered at the land registry) or the matrix article (the number under which the vehicle is registered at the finances services) and the article’s nature (rustic or urban)
      • in the case of an autonomous fraction (an apartment, for instance), the letter which identifies the accommodation fraction/unit
      • in the case of an apartment under a time-sharing scheme, the letter which identifies the fraction (for instance, A, B, CX) and the time fraction (for instance, 52, which is the number of the time fraction corresponding to the last week of the year)
      • the parish and the municipality where the property is located (you must indicate the parish and the municipality mentioned on the document from which you extracted the description number or the matrix article).

What is the Price to Request a land registry certificate?

The certificate regarding one property costs €30 - For each property added to the certificate, you may €16 more.

If you need the help of a registry service officer to fill in the form, €1.25 may be charged.

If you prefer to receive the certificate through express mail, registered mail, with acknowledge of receipt or in hand, you must bear the costs.

You may request the land registry certificate in paper format in person or by mail.

On the location

Go to one of the IRN’s service desks which provide this service and bring the necessary documents and information.

By mail

  1. In the letter, include:
  • your name, address, telephone number, email address
  • the number of your identification Document (Citizen Card; Identity Document; Passport; or Residence Permit)
  • information about the property:
  • the description number (the number under which the vehicle is registered at the land registry) or the matrix article (the number under which the vehicle is registered at the finances services) and the article’s nature (rustic or urban)

  1. Send it to one of the land registry offices.
  2. The request will be sent, by regular mail, when it is ready.
