The additional bonus is an addition to the family allowance for children and young people with disabilities who are under 24 years of age and by 30 September 2019 were entitled to additional bonus due to disability, and for children of up to 10 years of age, who request the additional bonus due to disability from 1 October 2019.

Who can request an additional bonus to the family allowance for children and young people?

When can you request an additional bonus to the family allowance for children and young people?

You may request the disability allowance at any moment. Nevertheless:

  • if you request it within six months from the month following the one in which the disability was observed, you are entitled to the instalment from that month.
  • if you request it after that period, you are only entitled to it from the month following the request’s delivery.

 

What are the documents and requirements to request an additional bonus to the family allowance for children and young people?

  • It is necessary that the following conditions are met

    • The child with disability, of or under 10 years of age:
      • needs individual and specific pedagogical and/or therapeutic support adequate to the nature and characteristics of their disability, in order to prevent its worsening, annul or mitigate its effects and allow their full social integration
      • attends, is hospitalized or is able to attend or be hospitalized on a specialized rehabilitation establishment.
  • In the case of a contributory scheme (with social security contributions)

    • Regarding the beneficiary:
      • Holding a pay statement on the first 12 months of the last 14 months, from the request’s delivery date. This condition is not applicable to the pensioners, as well as to the pensioners due to occupational risks with a permanent disability equal or higher than 50%.
    • Regarding the disabled child/adolescent:
      • Depending on the beneficiary (from whom they descend)
      • Do not exercise professional activity under the mandatory social protection scheme.
  • In the case of a non-contributory scheme (individuals not covered by any social protection scheme and in a state of economic need)

    • The disabled child who, by him/herself or with his/her household, present one of the following situations:
      • Have a monthly gross income equal or lower than 40% of the Social Support Index, provided that the income of the household is equal or lower than 1.5xIAS, or
      • The income of the household, per individual, is equal or lower than 30% of the Social Support Index and they are in a state of risk or severe social dysfunction
      • Children and young people do not exercise professional activity under the mandatory social protection regime.
