Who is entitled to an increase of the allowance for single-parent families?

To the surcharge are entitled:

  • the pregnant women who receive a prenatal family allowance and live alone or if their household only comprises individuals entitled to the family allowance for children and adolescents
  • the children and adolescents who receive a family allowance for children and adolescents if integrated on a single-parent household.

It is deemed a single-parent household if the pregnant woman receives a prenatal family allowance and lives alone or if her household only comprises individuals entitled to the family allowance for children and adolescents

Family Allowance for children and adolescents

Household comprising holders of the family allowance for children and adolescents and one other individual, relative or relative through marriage within the 3rd degree in ascending line, or collaterally, an individual of legal age within the 3rd degree, adopter, guardian or individual to whom the applicant is entrusted upon a legal or administrative decision of entities or services legally competent for this purpose.

How can you Request an increase of the allowance for single-parent families?

If the family was already a single-parent family when the allowance was requested

The household composition is part of the information provided upon the allowance’s request. Based on this information, the social security services identify if the household is a single-parent family and apply the surcharge to the allowance’s amount granted.

If the family became a single-parent family after the allowance was requested

In this case, as there was an alteration on the household composition, the allowance’s applicant must fill in the Amendments Request form, Mod. GF 37-DGSS, which may be sent by mail or submitted:
