Early intervention during childhood
Response which aims to ensure development conditions for children with alterations on the body’s functions or structures, which limit their personal and social growth, and to ensure their participation on their age’s typical activities, as well as for children with a severe risk of development’s lag.
Babysitter
Social response which involves the exercise of the babysitter’s activity, aiming to care for children up to three years of age, or until they reach the age of enrolment on the pre-school education establishment, in their own residence for the period of time correspondent to the work or impediment of the parents or individuals which exercise the parental responsibilities (family).
Family nursery
Social response which involves the exercise of the babysitter’s activity, when developed within a framework institution, aiming to care for children up to three years of age, or until they reach the age of enrolment on the pre-school education establishment, in their own residence for the period of time correspondent to the work or impediment of the parents or individuals which exercise the parental responsibilities.
Nursery
Social response, with a social-educational nature, aimed to receive children up to 3 years of age, during the impediment period of the parents or guardian.
Pre-school education’s establishment
Social response dedicated to the development of children between 3 years old and the age of enrolment on the primary education.
Leisure-time activities centre
Social response which provides leisure activities to 6 years old or older children and adolescents, on the school responsibilities’ available period, developed through different intervention models, namely monitoring/inclusion, practice of specific activities and multi-activities.
Holiday and leisure centres
Social response aimed for all age groups and families to meet the leisure and routine breaks’ needs, essential for the physical, psychological and social balance of its users.

What is the price to request social benefits for children and adolescents?
The children and adolescents who benefit from these type of social benefits pay an amount for the service provided - family contributions - which is calculated based on the family’s income.
Children up to the age of 3 from families in the 1st and 2nd family contribution brackets are entitled to free daycare and nannies. The Instituto da Segurança Social (ISS) notifies families directly, and no registration is required.
The monthly fee is paid by the ISS as long as the children attend a public daycare center or a daycare center covered by the cooperation system.
The children and adolescents may also be entitled to other Social Security’s allowances or instalments.
