It is a compensation assigned to the worker, during the pregnancy, aiming to replace the work income loss, in the case of clinical risk for the pregnant woman or unborn child (the child who is yet to be born), wihen not entitled to the compensation for clinical risk during the pregnancy.

Who can request the social compensation for clinical risk during the pregnancy?
Citizens covered by the mandatory social protection scheme or by the voluntary social insurance scheme, whose social protection scheme integrates the possibility of motherhood, fatherhood and adoption, when not entitled to the grant for clinical risk during the pregnancy and who meet the following conditions:
Reside in Portugal or are similar to residents.
Exercise a professional activity.
Do not hold, as well as their household, movable heritage (bank deposits, shares, obligations, savings certificates, securities and securities units on collective investment institutions) on an amount higher than €106.368,00 (corresponds to 240 times the amount of the social supports indexation - IAS) to the date of the request.
Have a monthly income, per person, of the household equal or lower than 80% of the IAS (€354,56).
The Social Support Indexation, which in 2023 is 480,43€.

When can you request the social compensation for clinical risk during the pregnancy?
Within six months of the date you stopped working.
If you submit the request after this period, but still during the period in which you are entitled to receive the allowance, the days of delay won’t be paid.
