Replace documents in the “I Lost My Wallet” Desk

In this reception desk, you may request the replacement of documents due to loss, theft or alteration of your personal data (name and address).

To use this reception desk, you need to schedule the service and process, at least, two of the following documents: Citizen Card, driving license, single automobile document, ADSE card and ACP card.

Who can replace documents in the “I Lost My Wallet” Desk?

When can you replace documents in the “I Lost My Wallet” Desk?

If you need to replace, at least, two of the following documents due to loss, theft or alteration of your personal data (name and address):

  • Citizen Card
  • single automobile document
  • driving license
  • ADSE beneficiary card
  • ACP stakeholder card

Although they are processed on the same reception desk, the documents are:

  • sent by the issuing entities to your address (except the Citizen Card that must be picked up in person on the place you choose when you make it)
  • delivered within the deadlines decided by any of these entities.

Did you lose your Citizen Card or was it stolen?

For safety reasons, we advise you to cancel the card before going to the reception desk. You may do it online, on a Citizen Card reception desk or through the number (+351) 211 950 500.

Will you process the driving license?

If you go to a reception desk to process this document, be aware that:

  • you may alter the name or request the duplicate (it is never possible to make the two requests simultaneously)
  • the address is no longer part of the driving license and is no longer a data that can be altered (to know more, consult the IMT website)
  • if the replacement is due to loss or theft, you are granted a duplicate equal to the previous one (on the reception desk, it is not possible to accrue the duplicate request with the name alteration and/or revalidation by age request)
  • the permit that is given on the reception desk allows you to drive (while it is valid).

Will you process the single automobile document?

If you go to a reception desk to process this document, be aware that:

  • you can only process this document if the vehicle is registered in your name
  • if you also lost your Citizen Card or identification document or if they were stolen, to process the single automobile document you need to submit an alternative and valid identification document (passport or driving license). If you do not hold any of these documents when you go to the reception desk, the request shall be pending, and you must return a second time to conclude the request when you have your new Citizen Card.

Where replace documents in the “I Lost My Wallet” Desk?

The reception desk operates exclusively with appointment, on the Citizen Shop of Lisbon - Laranjeiras. You may schedule by phone 300 003 990 (weekdays from 9am to 6pm).

Address of the Citizen Shop: Rua Abranches Ferrão 10, 1600-001 Lisbon.

Operating schedule of the reception desk: Weekdays from 8:30am to 7pm and saturdays from 10am to 2pm.

What are the documents and requirements to replace documents in the “I Lost My Wallet” Desk?

    • To replace documents due to loss or theft

    You only need to indicate your tax payer number + the documents or elements indicated below which apply to your case:

    • If you lost your identification document or if it was stolen

    You need to submit complementary proves to attest the identity, choosing one of the options below:

    Bring one of these documents:

    • driving license
    • Portuguese passport (not expired)
    • foreign passport
    • foreign identification document or from Macau.
    Bring an identification document of two family members

    Bring an identification document of two people that are direct family members (father, mother, siblings, grandparents, husband/wife, grandsons/granddaughters or children) and of legal age.

    The documents may be:

    • Citizen Card
    • identification document
    • driving license
    • Portuguese passport (not expired)
    • foreign passport
    • foreign identification document or from Macau.
    Go with a family member

    Go with a direct family member (father, mother, siblings, grandparents, husband/wife, grandsons/granddaughters or children) and of legal age.

    The family member that goes with you must be identified by one of the following documents:

    • Citizen Card
    • identification document
    • driving license
    • Portuguese passport (not expired)
    • foreign passport
    • foreign identification document or from Macau.
    Go with two witnesses

    Go with two witnesses that must be identified by one of the following documents:

    • Citizen Card
    • identification document
    • driving license
    • Portuguese passport (not expired)
    • foreign passport
    • foreign identification document or from Macau.

    The witnesses cannot be direct family members of each other (father, mother, siblings, grandparents, husband/wife, grandsons/granddaughters or children).

    • If you lost your single automobile document or if it was stolen

    If you also lost your citizen card or identification document or if they were stolen, to process the single automobile document you need to submit an alternative and valid identification document (passport or driving license). If you do not hold any of these documents when you go to the reception desk, the request shall be pending, and you must return a second time to conclude the request when you have your new citizen card.

    • To alter the name or address on the documents

    You only need to bring with you the original document you want to alter.

    If you want to replace the driving license and you are within a revalidation by age, you need to process some documents before going to the “I Lost My Wallet” Desk. Consult the data on the revalidation of the driving license to know the documents which apply to your situation.
