TDT network migration process suspended due to constraints associated with COVID-19

The TDT network migration process is suspended due to the constraints associated with COVID-19. The suspension of the process arises from the prior articulation between ANACOM and MEO, the TDT network operator, and deserved the necessary agreement of the Government.

As a result of this decision, the transmitters that were to be changed from next Monday no longer change frequency. The process will resume as soon as the conditions associated with the pandemic allow it.

However, as today the frequencies of the Couço (Alto Alentejo), Trindade and Estrela (Lisbon) transmitters have been changed, and to ensure that no one is left without watching television, ANACOM will continue in the coming days to assist the population through the free 800 102 002 service line and the teams in the field, should they need help to resynchronise their receiving equipment.

For more information, please consult the ANACOM website.

Updated on 6 March:

3rd phase of the alteration of TDT's transmitter network has already started and covers Lisbon, Santarém, Leiria, Coimbra, Castelo Branco and Viseu

On 5 March, the alteration of the TDT transmitter network in region 3 began, involving the districts of Lisbon, Santarém, Leiria, Coimbra, Castelo Branco (West), Viseu (South) and Setúbal, with some of the latter district's transmitters already being altered in phase 2.

The 3rd phase of the migration of TDT's transmitter network began with the change of the Cheleiros transmitter, in Sintra, and ends on 21 April, with the Piódão transmitter. In total 79 transmitters will be changed in this phase. Until 10 March, the process will take place simultaneously with the change of the phase 2 transmitters. For more information, please consult the ANACOM website.

Updated on 24 February:

2nd phase of the alteration of the TDT transmitter network starts on 24 February and covers the districts of Évora, Beja and Setúbal

The change in TDT's transmitter network will advance to the 2nd phase, which starts on 24 February and ends on 10 March. During this period, 24 transmitters will be changed, the first of which is Vila Nova de S. Bento, in the municipality of Serpa. But not all TDT users will be covered in this process. People will know that they are covered by the change if their television runs out of image. For more information, consult the ANACOM website.

ANACOM statement on the modification of the Digital Terrestrial Television (TDT) transmitter network

The alteration of the TDT transmitters networks will begin nationwide on 7 February, with the Sines transmitter, followed by the Algarve transmitters, and the process will continue, from the south to the north of the country, concluding at the end of June.

But not all TDT users will be covered in this process. People will know that they are covered by the change if their TV runs out of image.

When the TV screen turns black it will only be necessary to tune in to the TV or TDT decoder and they will continue to watch TV for free, as has been the case until now. It is a simple process. ANACOM has taken care to ensure that it will not be necessary to replace or reorient the antenna, change the TV or decoder, and nobody will have to subscribe to paid TV services. In the case of condominiums/buildings with single-channel amplifiers they may have to replace them.

To help in this process, ANACOM has set up a free helpline (800 102 002), which operates every day between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m., to which people can call to clarify doubts and get support in tuning their television.

If you are unable to tune the equipment yourself or with the help of the free 800 102 002 line, ANACOM will arrange a visit to the person's home to tune in, with their technicians and free of charge.

ATTENTION: ANACOM will only go to the house of whoever calls 800 102 002 and if following this contact the visit is scheduled. If the person has never called this number and someone comes knocking on the door saying that they are from ANACOM and that they are going to tune the equipment, you must be careful and not open the door, because they will not be ANACOM technicians.

ANACOM will disseminate information regarding changes in TDT by means of a letter and a leaflet which is delivered to everyone's home and which summarizes the relevant information to adapt to this change process.

In order to broaden the range of entities that can help disseminate information and provide support to the population, ANACOM has signed several partnerships: with the Municipal Councils, the Parish Councils, the GNR, the PSP, the parish priests, the National Scouting Corps (Escuteiros), the Social Security Institute and the AMA (Citizen Shops and Spots), among other entities.
