Housing support reinforced for displaced scholarship students

25.09.2023

The government has approved an increase in the housing supplement for displaced higher education students. The approved increases between 8% and 38% in the support given to accommodation for displaced scholarship students, representing an increase in annual support of between 240.20 euros and 1,321.21 euros.

Thus, students with a scholarship who are housed outside a public residence will now receive between 2,642.40 euros and 5,020.51 euros of support each year to pay for their accommodation costs.

This increase is designed to ensure that the supplements paid keep pace with the average price of private accommodation in the country's different cities. In municipalities where the average price of private accommodation is lower than the supplement already awarded, the same amount of supplement is maintained.

A displaced scholarship student is a student with a scholarship who, due to the distance or lack of transport between their place of residence and the university, needs to live in the locality of the educational establishment.

You can see how the supplements will look in each municipality on the government website.
