The European Union (EU) Fund has already supported 499 Portuguese Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the protection of Industrial Property rights. The registered SMEs received vouchers for areas such as IP Scan, Trademarks and Designs and Patents.

This financial support makes it possible to support up to 50% of the value of national patent application fees, up to a maximum value of 750 euros per beneficiary SME.

Simultaneously, SMEs can also apply for

a reimbursement of 75% of the expenses related to the registration of Trade Marks and Designs (application fees) within the EU
receive 50% of expenses for international trade mark and design applications
a reimbursement of 90% of expenses incurred for IP pre-scan services (IP Scan), up to a maximum of EUR 1,500 per company.

Applications must be submitted on the portal of the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO)

In the European total, the fund received until last month more than 15 thousand applications. Portugal is the 10th Member State with most applications.
