COMPETE 2030 opens funding for patent and design expenses

05.04.2024

The COMPETE 2030 program has launched financial support for expenses related to patent and utility model applications and the registration of designs.

The aim of this support is to strengthen the transfer of scientific and technological knowledge to companies, promoting research and innovation, based on the registration of industrial property rights.

This financial support is intended to help micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and small-medium capitalization companies with expenditure on patents and designs at national, European and international level.

Among the expenses that can be financed are:

  • Definitive national patent, utility model and design applications filed with the INPI
  • Patent, utility model and design applications filed abroad directly with the respective national administrations, whether or not they claim Portuguese priority
  • European patent application filed with the INPI (regardless of whether it claims priority from a Portuguese application) or with the European Patent Organization, provided that it claims priority from a Portuguese patent or utility model application
  • International patent application (PCT) filed with the INPI (regardless of whether it claims priority to a Portuguese application) or with the European Patent Organization and/or the World Intellectual Property Organization, provided that it claims priority to a Portuguese patent or utility model application
  • Community design application filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

Applications for this support can be made until December 30, 2024, using an electronic form available at the Balcão dos Fundos.
