COVID-19: isolation period reduced from 7 to 5 days

11.07.2022

The isolation period for people with asymptomatic infection or mild illness with COVID-19 has been reduced from 7 to 5 days. The updated standard from the Directorate-General of Health applies only to those who have no fever and are better from symptoms.

However, it is still recommended to wear a mask for another 5 days after the end of isolation.

For hospitalised or nursing home residents with asymptomatic infection or mild illness, the minimum isolation period is 7 days.

In situations of severe immunosuppression, the end of isolation is decided on a case-by-case basis by the attending physician.
