Funding for social equipment increased by 20%

12.06.2023

The construction and renovation projects of social equipment to support children, the elderly and people with disabilities will have an additional 20% of public funding to meet the increased costs of works.

This support is given to projects under the Social Equipment Network Enlargement Program (PARES), for work already consigned or that will be consigned until October 31, 2023.

The goal, according to the Minister of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security, is to ensure that the works run faster at a time when "the construction sector continues to face an increase in prices of raw materials and labor, impacting the final cost of contracts.

With this change to the financing of projects under the PARES Program, the Government wants to give a "new impetus to the overall investment costs per project and thus allow the broadening of the spectrum of projects that enhance its implementation.

The measure will strengthen the Government's focus on social responses, an area where the overall investment is already around 900 million euros, when considering all the investments made under PARES and PRR.

PARES 2.0 will increase the social response to Daycare to 3,174 places, with projects already approved in the districts of Aveiro, Braga, Lisbon, Porto, and Setúbal.

PARES 3.0 has 22,279 available places in responses for the disabled (CACI, RAI and Residential Home) and the elderly (ERPI, Day Center and SAD) and includes funding in 18 mainland districts.
