Government launches the guide to support investment in the diaspora

15.12.2020

The new Guide to Support Investment in the Diaspora (GAID) is available on the Portal do Governo (Government Portal). With the aim of clarifying opportunities, the document will guide Portuguese and Portuguese-speaking emigrants who wish to invest or expand their economic activity in Portugal and national entrepreneurs who wish to internationalise their business through the Diaspora.

GAID focuses on measures supported with various national and European funds. In a simple and accessible way, the guide describes several available incentives, presents relevant information for filling in and submitting applications for these supports, and offers an explanation of the regulations to be complied with when granting these incentives.

Among the contents are summary information on Portugal 2020 and its Operational Programmes, the application process for these European funds and access to the Balcão 2020.

Of the investment support included in GAID, incentives for business innovation, entrepreneurship, internationalisation, the creation of qualified employment and investment in the tourism sector, as well as support for forestry, agro-industry and young farmers, are also highlighted.

The Guide to Supporting Investment in the Diaspora is a realisation of the National Programme to Support Investment in the Diaspora (PNAID), coordinated by the Governmental Areas of Territorial Cohesion and Foreign Affairs.
