Free childcare extended to the private network

As of January 1, 2023, children born on or after September 1, 2021 can now attend free of charge daycare centers in the social network without a cooperation agreement and in the private sector. This measure applies when there are no free places in the daycare centers of the social and solidarity sector with an agreement or of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa in the desired municipalities.

To find out what vacancies are available for children between the age of nursery and up to 24 months, you should view the page "Creche Feliz - Rede de Creches Gratuitas" on the Social Security portal.

If you do not find an offer in the municipality where you live or work, you can fill out the online form to signal your interest in free vacancies.
