Novo Espaço Europeu da Investigação e da Inovação
The European Commission has adopted a Communication on a new European Research Area to accelerate the transition of the European Union (EU) towards climate neutrality and digital leadership.
The new European Research Area aims to improve the research and innovation landscape in Europe, accelerate the EU's transition to climate neutrality and digital leadership, support its recovery from the social and economic impact of the coronavirus crisis and strengthen its resilience against future crises.
Anchored in Europe's leadership in innovation and scientific excellence, the objectives of the new European Research Area are
- To encourage better coordination and cooperation between the EU, its Member States and the private sector
- To raise more investment in Research and Innovation
- To enhance the mobility of researchers, their skills and the flow of knowledge.
EU support for research and innovation is foreseen in several programmes, such as Horizon Europe, Cohesion Policy and Next Generation EU.
