RAPID4ALL system extended to the airports of Porto, Faro and Funchal

18.10.2021

The System for Automatic Recognition of Documentary Identified Passengers (RAPID4ALL) is now available at the international airports of Porto, Faro and Funchal, in addition to the existing one in Lisbon since 2016.

The goal is to allow greater speed and efficiency in border control, as well as to combat illegal immigration.

Created by the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service (SEF), RAPID4ALL has also been extended to UK citizens entering Portugal.

To date, the system allows automatic recognition for people in the following situations:

  • Entry and exit from Portugal - Australia, Japan, New Zealand and Singapore
  • Exiting Portugal - Brazil, Canada, South Korea, USA and Venezuela.

To be able to use the RAPID4ALL, the following requirements must be met:

  • To have an electronic passport
  • To be at least 18 years old
  • To have entered the European Union through Portugal
  • To be within the legal limit of authorized stay.
