Request for Informal Caregiver status available through Segurança Social Direta

The application form for recognition of the Informal Caregiver Status can already be requested online through the Segurança Social Direta (Direct Social Security). 

The process of recognition of the Informal Caregiver Status by Social Security started on June 1st and has been applied to 30 pilot councils. In July this service became available to the other municipalities.

For clarification of doubts, citizens also have access to the Gabinete de Acolhimento ao Cuidador Informal (Office for the Welcoming of Informal Caregivers), located in the headquarters of the District Social Security Centres.
