13.01.2021

The AURORAL project is already underway in four locations in Alentejo to bridge the digital gap between urban and rural areas in Europe. The aim of this European initiative is to give rural areas access to technology and digital means to create economic growth and jobs.

Sines, São Pedro do Corval, Pias and Arronches are the territories of Alentejo where the AURORAL project is already being developed since the beginning of the year.

In Sines, the focus is on digital entrepreneurship and the development of incubators and technology clusters. In São Pedro do Corval, municipality of Reguengos de Monsaraz, the focus will be on the artistic community and the heritage related to handicraft and ceramics.

In Pias, municipality of Serpa, healthy ageing and quality of life are the central points. In Arronches, the project will be based on the efficient use of public resources to mitigate climate change.

The AURORAL will run for four years and is funded by the European Union's 2020 HORIZON programme, an investment of 16 million euros. The regional development strategy is the responsibility of ADRAL - Alentejo Regional Development Agency.
