Social Security will make attendance by videoconference

26.01.2021

Social Security starts this Tuesday, 26 January, with a pilot project that refers citizens to a service by videoconference when a quick face-to-face service is not possible. The remote assistance will be carried out on the Teams platform, scheduled by the Social Security Line services themselves.

Dedicated services will be available for citizens and businesses, such as contributions, legal protection or requesting the European Health Insurance Card.

The aim is to direct to this new channel the beneficiaries who wish to be served in person, but who are in areas where appointments cannot be guaranteed in time.

Currently, the average waiting time nationally is nine days, and in some urban centres the time between the appointment and the service can be longer.

This pilot project has nine service desks in four District Centres, which service can be guaranteed by Social Security employees teleworking. The number of desks to be served by videoconference will be extended to increase the response capacity and to cover more services.

In 2020, the Social Security Line recorded nearly 3 million calls, almost half a million more calls than in 2019.
