Self-employed workers have until February 1st to submit Annual Statement of Activity

25.01.2021

The self-employed workers can submit the Annual Statement of Activity to the Social Security by 1 February. At the same time, if they have not yet done so, they must still submit the Quarterly Statement. The statements can be submitted online.

The submitted Quarterly Statements of 2020 can be consulted on the Internet, through the Segurança Social Direta (Social Security Direct) portal, where you should access the option Employment > Self-employed workers > Quarterly statement scheme > Statements of the previous year:

  • the quarterly statements submitted can be viewed in the option Consult Statement, it is through this same option that you can still correct any amount already declared
  • the quarterly statements which have not been submitted are identified by Register Statement.

If there are contributions of a higher amount, the payment of the accruals can be made until 22 February, through a payment document, which is available through Segurança Social Direta (Social Security Direct). If, on the other hand, you do not need to correct or declare amounts relating to the Quarterly Statements mentioned, you do not need to take any action, and so the Annual Statement is validated.

“The Annual Statement is intended for all self-employed workers who in the calendar year 2020 have submitted at least one Quarterly Statement and aims to correct or make Quarterly Statements of the previous year (2020)", according to the Social Security portal. Regarding the Quarterly Statement, the same note clarifies that this statement "is intended for all self-employed workers who are required to declare their income for the months of October, November and December 2020".
