Training professional for operator of agriculture machinery – Establishment in Portugal

In order to be able to work on a permanent basis as a Trainer for Operators of Agricultural Machinery in Portugal, you must first apply for recognition of your professional qualifications. The relevant authority for recognising these qualifications is the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DGADR).

Applications may be made by nationals of a European Union (EU) Member State, or a country in the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland.

Procedure

Applications may be submitted online via the ePortugal portal and are examined by the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DGADR).

The time it takes for permits to be issued varies from 1 to 4 months, depending on whether additional documents or clarifications are needed or if it is necessary to take a test or complete an adaptation period (compensatory measures).

The procedure is as follows:

  1. Submitting the form:
    • Click on the PERFORM SERVICE button
    • Log in using a valid means of electronic identification (Digital Mobile Key or Portuguese Citizen Card)
    • Complete the online form and attach the documents
    • Submit your application.
  2. DGADR will confirm receipt of the request within 1 month (confirmation of online applications is immediate) and, if necessary, will request additional documents or information.
  3. Should additional documents or information be required, applicants must send the missing documentation.
  4. If no compensatory measures are required, DGADR will notify applicants of the final decision within a maximum of 4 months.

If compensatory measures are required:

In addition, the relevant authority may determine compensatory measures in order to assess the applicant’s technical skills. These measures may consist of an adaptation period or test.

The final decision to authorise the applicant to practise the profession in Portugal is given after successful completion of the adaptation period or test.
