State of Emergency: measures for Christmas and New Year's Eve
With the renewal of the State of Emergency for the period from 9 to 23 December decreed by the President of the Republic, the Council of Ministers approved the new package of measures, which includes special rules for Christmas and New Year.
Decree 61-A/2020 maintains the rules currently in force, such as the ban on circulation in public places from 1 p.m. on weekends of 12-13 and 19-20 December, in the municipalities of very high and extreme risk of transmission of COVID-19. And also, the ban on street gatherings of more than 6 people.
Christmas - Special measures from 23 to 26 December:
- Circulation between municipalities is allowed;
- During the night of December 23 to 24, only people who are travelling are allowed to circulate on public streets;
- On 24 and 25 December, traffic on the public road is allowed until 2 a.m. the following day and restaurants can operate until 1 a.m.;
- On 24 and 25, the closing times do not apply to cultural establishments;
- On 26 December, circulation on the public streets is allowed until 11 p.m. and restaurants can operate until 3.30 p.m. in municipalities with a very high and extreme risk.
New Year - Special measures from 31 December to 4 January:
- Circulation between municipalities is forbidden between midnight on 31 December and 5 a.m. on 4 January;
- On the New Year's Eve, circulation on the public streets is allowed until 2 a. m. and restaurants can operate until 1 a.m.;
- On 1 January, circulation in public streets is allowed until 11 p.m. and restaurants are allowed to operate until 3:30 p.m. in municipalities of very high and extreme risk;
- Public parties or parties open to the public are forbidden.
On 18 December the risk map will be reviewed and the epidemiological situation of each municipality will be re-evaluated, with the possibility of aggravation of the measures, if justified.
