SME Fund: applications open until December 8

19.06.2023

The European Commission, with the support of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), has launched a Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) Fund for faster recovery of the European Union (EU) economy.

The support aims to help SMEs benefit from Industrial Property Rights in order to stimulate competitiveness, innovation and economic growth of Portuguese companies.

SMEs can apply for partial reimbursement of expenses for pre-screening of Industrial Property (IP) - IP Scan, trademarks and design, patents and plant varieties. After the admission of the application, vouchers are issued, which can then be activated for the partial reimbursement of the fees related to the selected modalities.

Currently there are 4 modalities of support:

  • IP pre-screening service - reimbursement of 90% of the expenses up to 810 €
  • trademark and design protection - reimbursement up to 1,000
  • national and European patents - reimbursement up to 1.500 euros
  • plant varieties protected within the Community framework - reimbursement up to 225

Applications are open until December 8 on the EUIPO website.
