Moved to a new house? You have until January 10 to change your address if you want to vote in your new area of residence

05.01.2024

If you have recently moved house and want to vote in the area of your new residence for the legislative elections on March 10th, you must change the address on your Citizen's Card by January 10th.

Whenever you change your usual place of residence, you should change the address on your Citizen's Card as soon as possible. This change of address changes your details at the Tax Office, Social Security and also at the Electoral Registration Office, among others.

If you have not yet confirmed your change of address, the place where you will vote remains the same as your old address.

For Portuguese nationals living outside of Portugal, the deadline for changing your address in order to vote in the legislative elections on March 10 is also January 10.

If you can't vote on March 10 and need to vote early, you can register to vote early between February 25 and 29.

How to change the address on your Citizen's Card
You can change the address on your Citizen's Card in person or online. The change of address is only complete once you have received the letter in the post that allows you to confirm the change of address on your Citizen's Card
