You can now request subsequent unemployment social benefit through Segurança Social Direta. This benefit is payable to anyone who has already received unemployment benefit to which they are entitled and is still unemployed.

Subsequent unemployment social benefit can be requested up to 30 days before the end of the unemployment benefit. Simply access Segurança Social Direta and, under the "Emprego” [Employment] menu, select "Desemprego” [Unemployment] and then "Pedir Subsídio Social Subsequente” [Request unemployment social benefit].

The new service also makes it possible to check the status of the request.

To receive the subsidy by bank transfer, register your IBAN in Segurança Social Direta ("Perfil" [Profile] menu, option "Conta bancária" [Bank account]).
