3 million Citizen's Card renewals without travelling
In two years, the online, automatic and home delivery renewal services have already avoided
more than three million trips in person to the services of the Institute of Registration and Notary Affairs (IRN).
The automatic renewal of the Citizen's Card, available to citizens over 25 years old, has already allowed around 1.2 million Portuguese to automatically renew their identity document and receive it at home by post.
The online service to request the Citizen Card for newborns also allows parents to deal with everything without travelling. In these four months, approximately 3,000 citizen cards for children under one year old were requested.
Home delivery of the card is available for citizens with an address in Portugal and can be requested at the time of renewal, either in person or online services for renewal and birth registration.
Those who live abroad can ask for the card to be sent to the Consulate of the area of residence which, if the home delivery service is available, will send the document to the citizen's address.
