Applying for authorisation to market precious metals in Portugal (mutual recognition)
To market items in Portugal that contain precious metals (gold, silver, platinum or palladium), do not yet exist on the Portuguese market and have already been marketed in at least one Member State (MS) of the European Union (EU), economic operators must apply for prior authorisation to guarantee that the items comply with the technical rules and regulations applicable in Portugal.

Access the service online
You will need one of the following means of authentication to access this service:
- Digital Mobile Key (CMD)
- Citizen Card
- Digital Certificate
Procedure and requirements
Procedure
- Submission of the form by the economic operator
- Click on the ‘access the service’ button.
- Confirm your identity using a valid means of electronic identification (Digital Mobile Key, Citizen Card or Digital Certificate).
- Complete the form online and attach the necessary documents (see the field ‘what is necessary?’).
- Submit your application.
- Examination of the application
- The form and the documents will be examined by the Assay Office at the Portuguese Mint and Official Printing Office (INCM).
- If everything is in order, the procedure is deemed to be complete and the Assay Office will inform the economic operator that the application has been approved.
- If there are any errors, you will need to provide further information or to correct the documents. Once the applicant has provided this information, a new examination is conducted to ensure everything is correct.
