Additional Data
The ‘Clean & Safe’ seal was created in 2020 to help companies in the tourism sector comply with the necessary measures, in accordance with the DGS (Directorate-General for Health) guidelines, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The 2022 version of the seal adapted the requirements for containing the spread of COVID-19 to the current epidemiological reality and the changing DGS guidelines. However, its scope was extended to other possible public health situations, and to other cross-cutting tourist safety issues associated with other types of vulnerabilities and risks.
The seal also covers the adoption of action plans (including preventive and reactive measures) and training recommendations for the following areas:
- health: (pandemics other than COVID-19, infections by biological agents and heat waves);
- extreme phenomena / collective risks: rural fires, floods, earthquakes and tsunamis;
- international constraints: cybersecurity issues and refugee situations.
- Useful information on the areas covered by the seal can be found on the Portugal Clean and Safe platform, such as guidance to help implement measures covered by the seal and draft action plans.
