Cancel the Digital Mobile Key

The Digital Mobile Key (CMD) can be cancelled at any time.

There are some situations when you need to cancel the Digital Mobile Key in order to activate a new one, such as when:

  • you activate a CMD using the access data to the Portal das Finanças, and do not receive the letter by mail
  • you have your mobile phone number associated to a family member's CMD registration and now want to activate a CMD for yourself with that mobile phone number
  • you want to change data such as adding Social Security, SNS or NIF number to the CMD registration
  • change the type of identification document

For example, if you have activated the CMD with a Residence Card and, in the meantime, you have obtained Portuguese nationality and the respective Portuguese Citizen Card, you must cancel your current CMD in order to activate the new one with the Citizen Card.

What are the documents and requirements to cancel the Digital Mobile Key?

  • Online, you need to authenticate yourself with Digital Mobile Key or Citizen Card.

    Telephone, you must call from the mobile phone number associated to the CMD.

    Citizen Spot, take with you the identification document that you used to activate the CMD.

How cancel the Digital Mobile Key?

You can cancel the Mobile Digital Key online, by phone or at a Citizen Spot.

Online on Autenticação.gov

  1. Go to the Autenticação.gov portal and click on "Iniciar Sessão". (You will need to authenticate with Mobile Digital Key or Citizen Card)
  2. After logging in, enter “Área Reservada” and click on "A Minha Chave Móvel Digital".
  3. Next, choose the option "Cancelar a Chave Móvel Digital" and click on “Cancelar".

By telephone - Citizen Helpline

You can request the cancellation of the Digital Mobile Key by telephone via the Citizen Helpline - 210 489 010 or 300 003 990, available from Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm. This call costs the same as a local call.

You must call from the mobile phone number that is associated with the registration of the Digital Mobile Key.

You can request the cancellation of the Mobile Digital Key at a Citizen Spot counter.
